Veneers can be used to cover up and address minor cosmetic issues with a smile such as small gaps, cracks, chips, and discolouration. In some cases, they can also be used to address minor overlapping issues.

What are veneers?

Veneers are a popular cosmetic dentistry treatment that involve bonding an ultra-thin layer of porcelain onto the surface of the tooth in order to hide and disguise cosmetic issues with the teeth.

Who is suitable for this treatment?

We’ll be able to determine your suitability for this treatment during a full assessment and consultation, but veneers are most appropriate for patients with a healthy mouth and teeth, but who are unhappy with how their smile looks.

Veneers are great at addressing issues such as:

• Chips
• Cracks
• Small gaps
• Discolouration and heavy staining that can’t be treated with teeth whitening
• Minor alignment issues
• Overly small teeth/a ‘gummy smile’
• Overly large teeth

How many teeth can I treat with veneers?

We can treat anywhere from one single tooth, to six or more. When addressing cosmetic issues with the teeth, patients tend to want to focus on the front ‘social six’ teeth which are most visible when you talk and smile.

What happens during the treatment?

First, the teeth or tooth will be thoroughly cleaned before a small amount of the tooth enamel is removed through shaving. This is to help ensure the porcelain bonds properly to the surface of the natural tooth. Your personal veneers will then be made and checked for shape, shade, fit, and position before they are bonded to the tooth or teeth.

How long do veneers last?

Veneers usually last 7-10 years with good oral care and hygiene.
